Managing Partner Gediminas Dominas delivered a presentation on the issues of arbitrability and bankruptcy in the new Commercial Arbitration Law at the second annual conference entitled “ARBITRATION DAY 2012: Novelties in the Commercial Arbitration Law” that was held on 20 November in Vilnius.

In 2009, the European Parliament and the Council adopted Directive 2009/28/EC (hereinafter Directive). This Directive stipulates mandatory targets that renewable energy sources in Lithuania achieve an overall 23 per cent share of total energy consumption by 2020. In order to implement this Directive the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania has stipulated a new renewable energy promotion policy, which is intended to attract international companies to invest in Lithuania.

On 19 October, Associate Justinas Poderis attended a seminar organized by the Lithuanian Energy Institute on the Prospects for Small-Scale Wind Energy in Lithuania. He delivered a presentation devoted to the legal and regulatory issues of small wind farm development.

Andrius Ivanauskas, a senior associate of Bernotas & Dominas GLIMSTEDT, participated in the working group for preparation of the new Law of Partnerships which was recently adopted by the Lithuanian parliament. The new version of the Law is primarily designated to provide a handy instrument for establishing private equity funds.

On 22 June a new version of the Law on Commercial Arbitration was passed by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania. Bernotas & Dominas GLIMSTEDT also participated in the drafting of the law.

Managing Partner Gediminas Dominas gave a presentation on the practical aspects of dispute resolution by arbitration at the seminar entitled International & National Commercial Disputes Resolution by Arbitration. The seminar was held on 29 June by the Enterprise Europe Network within the Vilnius Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, in collaboration with the Vilnius Court of Commercial Arbitration.

In the conference held in Vilnius the local energy experts, heating suppliers and lawyers encouraged the state to promote more actively housing renovation and the use of biofuels for heat production. Bernotas & Dominas GLIMSTEDT attempted to depoliticize the debates over the issue.
